One great benefit in playing CASHFLOW® 101 is to watch how other people play:
- What are their attitudes towards money, risk and wealth in the game?
- How do they speak about money and risk while playing the game?
You will quickly see how they play the game can be very telling of their relationship with finances in real life. Just notice what the players say, joke about, get bored with, give up on...etc - you will find it very insightful. (Many people use the game as a test for potential business partners!) To keep the game more challenging I reccommend:
- Taking out the $1 stocks.
- Play with your own figures. Notice the conversation when it comes to showing others your financial statement. Are you open? Embarrassed?
- Once you have played about 5 times, try playing only with the big deal cards.
- Play regularly. The real value comes from making this a routine, just like exercise. The "game" may become regular and easy. Getting wealthy is no different, you have probably heard others say getting rich is somewhat of a simple and boring process. Notice your attitude towards the game once you get good at it.
- Many people report that spending an hour to "debrief" after playing the game is often the most valuable part. Feel free to share you experience and how it relates back to your real life. You may find this to be one of the safest and most comfortable environments to talk with others about your relationship with money!
